The story behind ‘MY FAIR DIAMOND’ is first and foremost one of people, desire, conviction and perseverance. Producing rings using diamonds that respect humanity and the environment was essential to us, to remain true to our values, but also to give new generations the pleasure of wearing an ethical diamond.

MY FAIR DIAMOND is an initiative of CAP conseil’s directors who founded the diamond company CAP source especially for this purpose.

SERGE DE BACKER

Professional multiculturalism and rigor.

Serge De Backer is a graduate in law and communications and has a master’s in business administration (MBA). He began his career as an economic journalist, then editor, on topics such as ethical finance, sustainable development and corporate social responsibility.

In 2003, he founded CAP conseil, a company specialising in sustainable development. His areas of expertise include strategic consultancy, the analysis and measurement of non-financial performance and the development of social and environmental indicators. He has carried out a number of assignments in the non-profit sector in Africa and Asia.

In 2016, he co-founded CAP source with the goal of making the transition from ethical service to ethical product in a sector whose governance, transparency and ethics practices represent a number of challenges.

MARIE D'HUART

A mixed course: private, institutional, academic.

Marie d’Huart is a lawyer in international law with a master’s in science and environmental management. She has worked in Canada, Peru, the Maghreb, China and Africa.

In 2003, she founded CAP conseil, a consultancy specialising in sustainable development and social responsibility. She is an expert, a professor and an auditor in ethical, social and environmental standards, with a focus on responsible supply chains. She advises several diamond companies in Antwerp on the social challenges involved in modernising the sector to meet society’s ethical and responsible expectations.

In 2016, Marie co-founded CAP source, the creator behind the My Fair Diamond brand. With this new company, she has demonstrated that it is possible to work with artisanal diamonds and gold that are traceable and ethical, from mine to finger.
